Hi, I’m Haley Noelle, a ceramicist and web developer who wants to see more inspiring and modern digital spaces for ceramic artists.

The process of making ceramics goes far beyond throwing on a wheel or stacking coils of clay. It also involves the intricate details of figuring out dimensions, ensuring proper volume, calculating firing costs, and so much more. These smaller tasks are worked out frequently and should be an enjoyable part of the process. Personally, if I’m spending time on something regularly, I want that thing to be maximized for joy—even if it’s just working out a simple calculation. That calculator better look and work damn good.

Clay Calculator is the first of many sites that I plan to build and it is still growing and open to feedback. The next project is Clay Catalog, a site that allows ceramic artists to document the details of their work to help organize workflow and act as a reference guide for repeated projects since every step of building ceramics is crucial to the finished product.

Creating these sites requires a lot of time and money. Since I plan to use these sites myself, I’m more than happy to invest my own money into building them. However, my personal funds only go so far. Every additional dollar is deeply appreciated, as it speeds up the process and enhances the capabilities of these sites, allowing more people to benefit from them—because more users = more costs.
